We live in an area with a vast array of different choices when it comes to our children’s education. The Southern peninsula area (covering Muizenberg, St James, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, Simon’s Town, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, and Scarborough) is home to some great education facilities, and your choices are not only going to be governed by budget. Budget is a factor, but you can also choose from a wide variety of different educational philosophies as well.
It was a recent conversation with the mother of a child that my daughter used to be in pre-school with that got me thinking about education. Both girls went to the same pre-school but have now gone down very different primary school education routes. The conversation (bordering on argument) made me realize that there a myriad of choices out there, but that you also have to really go out and make an effort to find out what the different options are.
“Wouldn’t it be brilliant if there was one place where all that information was available to prospective parents?” I thought afterwards. Oh, wait a minute, I run a moderately successful community web site, and the articles that get the most feedback and discussion are those I wrote about selecting schools for my daughter.
So here it is, the Cape Point Chronicle Guide to Education in the South Peninsula, 2015.
If you are an educator, by all means feel free to submit education related articles for consideration. And parents, feel free to comment about what you read here.
It is also the aim of this guide to list as many of the education institutions in the south peninsula as possible. If you run such an establishment, and are feeling left out, by all means contact us for inclusion.
