    Home Page and Side Bar Advertising– the benefits of image rotation

    There are four zones on our home page for business advertising. Each is a carousel of five images, rotating at a steady pace. Rotating the images is more than just a way to create more slots on a page– the human eye is drawn to movement– images that change periodically are more eye catching and therefore more effective.     On Cape Point Chronicle our blog posts are divided into several categories. Your business can sponsor a category that you feel is most likely to be read by your customers. The ad appears at the top and bottom of a post and can either be static or a series of rotating images. Imagine the possibilities of being able to put such a versatile marketing tool in front of so many of your customers! The power of this kind of advertising is in the numbers, and the fact that the people reading the posts are doing more than simply idly browsing, they are reading and receptive to information. This type of advertising works as follows:

  • You sponsor a series of blog posts– the package guarantees 5 per month
  • We place your advertisement on the post
  • Your advert stays on the post for as long as the web site runs

  • Each blog post probably gets page views in the hundreds (this number grows every month, but we won’t claim things that are not true)- maybe not impressive enough? Read on-

    Blog Post Sponsorship

    Banner ad that displays at the top of a blog post. The ad stays in place for as long as the blog post is active (ie, while ever the web site is running). There are a guaranteed five posts per category per month. Ads can either be static with only one image utilized or can run as a series of up to 5 images running in sequence. Images can either be stored on our domain or on your own web server, making it possible for you to change images as and when you wish. Also, if an image is changed it will automatically change on all the previous posts you have sponsored.

    Email Newsletter ads

    We currently have three advertising slots on our email newsletter. Your ad is placed on the email template and will be sent on any emails broadcast that calendar month. We send at least one newsletter each month with others sent if there is anything that we feel will instantly interest our readers. The cost of being featured on an email is R150 per month.

    All advertising and promotion is paid for in advance. Payments not received before the start of the calender month will result in adverts being suspended until such time as pament is received. There are no contracts or obligations on your part, its simple, if you don't pay, we don't display.
    Obviously we have an obligation to you that if you pay in advance for a service we will provide it, but for you there are no cancellation periods or exit costs of any kind, though, if you pay for advertising up front and then decide to cancel it we will not refund the pro-rata amount remaining.

    As with all advertising there is of course the possibility of incurring set up costs. We try to keep these to a minimum and they only reflect the work that we are doing on your behalf. If you supply to us a Jpeg or similar web friendly format advert, that is the correct size, we will upload it onto our web site for free.
    If you want us to design an ad for you we are more than happy to do this for an agreed fee.
    By far the best way to handle the image issue is to host the ad on your own site (if you have one, if not, get in touch, we can set one up for you at a very, very reasonable price.) All you do then is send us the url for the image and we can link to it from our site. In this way, you are in full control of the advert and can change it as often as you like, as long as it sticks to our dimensions. This option will again incurr no additional costs above the amount for the advertising space as outlined above.

    If we do the changes then we will agree a fee before any work is undertaken, as we believe in being upfront with charges.

    As well as these excellent and highly visible advertising options we also are putting together a comprehensive Business Directory for the use of the residents of the Southern Suburbs (though not restricted to businesses in the far south.)

    The good news is that the basic listing will be free. If you are interested in being on the directory when it goes live please email us your details on the above form and we will let you know when it is on the server.

    The great thing about our directory will be that you are in control of the listing details. You set up a user account and can ammend the details at any time by simply logging in.

    This directory, like the website, is a constant work in progress. We are looking to make improvements to it all the time. There will be a number of listing enhancements rolled out, some free, some that will have a small fee. We will keep you up to date with these developments as they happen.
